The BBC is to trial a two way MMS service at the Notting Hill carnival this weekend in the UK.
Carnival goers are invited to send in their Camera Phone snaps by MMS or email to the BBC London team. The pictures will be displayed on the 1xtra web site and the best pictures will be sent out to participant's mobiles.
Highlighting the slow birth of MMS interoperability, technical limitations mean that the free trial will only be available to O2 and Vodafone subscribers.
This is the first time the BBC have sent outbound MMS. The BBC has trialed receiving MMS pictures by email during the February Peace in Iraq London demonstrations.
Started in 1964, the carnival has grown to be one of Europe's largest events - in 2002 about 1.16 million people attended the three day festivities .
