Submitted by Mike Grenville on Thu, 10 Jul 2008 12:05

A celebrity football match in Germany that will be broadcast on TV around the world will benefit Nelson Mandela’s "46664" Foundation using SMS shortcodes in 16 countries.

Under the slogan "Goal4Africa", a benefit soccer match with the world’s top players will take place on July 12 in Munich’s Allianz Arena in Germany.

It will be broadcast around the world and MindMatics is supporting the campaign with SMS short codes in 16 countries and a central content management system, which manages the delivery of content for "Goal4Africa". The proceeds of the campaign will go to Nelson Mandela’s "46664" Foundation. The drive for contributions will be supported by events around the world to celebrate Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday on July 18th.

The elite of world soccer will meet for the friendly match at the Allianz Arena in Munich. Alongside global ambassadors from "Goal4Africa", four-time Champions League winner Clarence Seedorf, international soccer player Kaká, the world cup winners Paolo Maldini and Gennaro Gattuso, and Premier League star Steven Gerrard will join an array of stars from Europe’s top soccer leagues.

During the game, the charity campaign will be prominently advertised by the broadcast partners. When texting a keyword to a local short code the viewer receives a mobile phone wallpaper. The proceeds go to the Mandela "46664" Foundation, which supports HIV positive and AIDS infected people,.

The Goal4Africa Global Foundation was established in 2008 to raise donations for the promotion of education and development in Africa and thereby contribute to the realisation of the "UN Millennium Development Goals 2015".
