A new application for house sellers enables them to create and send virtual property tours to a home buyer's mobile phone using MMS.
The new web application called Cellyspace from Boston based Skycore enables realtors to compose property slideshows using images, audio, video and text.
They then choose a unique keyword for their content which can be promoted on signs and print advertising. When home buyers text this unique keyword to Cellyspace's SMS shortcode, the slideshow is sent to them phone using MMS.
The application has been designed for realtors/estate agents to respond automatically to sales enquiries, and also to announce price reductions, broadcast alerts and promote their additional available properties.
Cellyspace decided to send the multimedia content primarily via MMS and alternatively via WAP, rather than email, as in spite of devices such as iPhone not yet having MMS capability, the greater number of phones are now MMS enabled.
Creating, storing and publishing MMS is free with no subscription charges. Sending an MMS costs 20 cent (US) to a USA based subcriber or US$0.50 (or approx .24GBP) to a UK mobile subscriber. A video MMS is charged at US$0.25 to the USA and US$0.60 to the UK. Alternatively the cost can be passed back to the enquirer using premium rate messaging at 1.99 USD/1.50GBP per message
