With "You Can Do It 2004" top of the December Ringtone charts, the Christmas Season saw an increase of 23% on the same period in 2003 of WAP taps and downloads in the UK
Over 1.2 billion WAP page impressions were viewed in the UK during December 2004, giving an average daily total of more than 40 million, according to figures announced today by the Mobile Data Association (MDA).
The total number of page impressions viewed during 2004 was up to 14.6 billion, creating a new annual record and exceeding the MDA’s forecast of 13 billion for the year.
In October 2004, allowing for seasonal differences, the MDA predicted that WAP page impressions would reach a total of 15 billion by the end of 2005. This figure is currently being revised for release in March.

December Ringtone Charts
As well as music chart hits, Christmas Season selections proved popular during December with Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas’, ‘Jingle Bells’, ‘Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer’ and the ‘Fairytale of New York’ by The Pogues and Kirsty McColl all hovering just outside the top ten. It was also interesting to see both Band Aid 2000 and Band Aid 1984 competing for the top slots!
