The number of SMS sent in the UK keeps on growing and growing. The 2.3 billion person-to-person messages were sent in October says MDA.

The October 2004 figures are the highest ever total of text messages sent in one month according to figures released today by the Mobile Data Association (MDA).

Person-to-person texts sent across the UK GSM network operators last month show an increase of 27% on the total sent during the same period in 2003, with 74 million messages being sent per day and more than 41 messages for every customer in the UK.

Prior to October 04, the highest monthly total of text messages ever recorded by the MDA was 2.198 billion in Jan 04.
