A plug in box enables a PC to be used to send and receive SMS from BT landlines in the UK
Designed and manufactured in the UK, Z-text takes advantage of the recent launch of landline SMS by BT. Z-text enables any standalone PC to send and receive SMS messages to and from a phone, whether mobile or landline.
Z-text will also receive and store text messages even if the PC is switched off. In addition to text messaging Z-text will also record telephone calls.
The box costs £58 + VAT and texts are charged to the BT telephone bill as with normal calls.
ŒLike many people I find sending a text from a mobile phone quite difficult and couldn¹t understand why it couldn¹t be more like email¹ said Paul Worsley, MD of NTS Telecom. ŒSo I decided to do something about it, the result is Z-text¹
Simple to install (1 phone plug and 1 USB connection) and easy to set up (load the CD and launch the application) Z-text has been designed to appeal to every level of user. Once installed the user has a screen much like any email application, including Phone Book, In Box, Draft and Sent. Anyone used to email will find the system simple to use.
With email and text fast becoming the staples of personal and business communications Z-text is seen as a natural bridge between the two. Unlike previous PC based text applications, there is no complicated set up or middleman operation and even home phones without a text option can benefit as BT are now offering a text to voice translation service so that every message can be received.
