European licensing agency, Copyright Promotions has made a digital licensing deal between Metro Goldwyn Mayer and Buongiorno Vitaminic to offer The Pink Panther and Inspector Clouseau mobile content in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
The signature of the partnership between Buongiorno and MGM coincides with the 40th anniversary of the cool and clever pink cat, a world wide recognized cartoon star and the source of inspiration for the movies directed by Blake Edwards, with Peter Sellers as the bewildered Inspector Clouseau.
Katarina Dietrich, Director, Entertainment, Copyright Promotions comments "The acquisition of the rights for the Pink Panther and Inspector Clouseau images is a great and timely addition to the established licensing programme as the forthcoming release of The Pink Panther film featuring Steve Martin, Jean Reno and Beyonce Knowles is scheduled for 2005".
Under the terms of the agreement, Buongiorno will access more than 100 images and video-clips of the Pink Panther including images created by Shag for the 40th anniversary and the new "urban" and "exotic" versions of the most famous on-screen panther. Therefore, Buongiorno will be able to offer wallpapers, logos, MMS and video- clip services of the Pink Panther to its consumers and to a potential target of over 200 million wired and wireless telephone users, counting on over 35 already signed agreements with the principal telephone operators and media partners in Europe.
Buongiorno Results
Buongiorno Vitaminic recently closed its first half of the year with revenues up 41% and EBITDA at Euro 2.4 million. It results state that 84 million "digital objects" purchased by 11 million unique GSM numbers in the period.
