Operators: Teach U R Dad 2 Txt

Submitted by Mike Grenville on Wed, 16 Jun 2004 18:59

With father's Day approaching, Verizon is running a campaign in the USA to get sons and daughters to teach their dads how to send an SMS.

Lesson suggestions include

  • Show him how to cut down on typing time with abbreviations. For example, “How’s your day going?” is “HWZ UR DAY,” “See you later” is “CU L8R” and “Miss you” is “MIS U.”
  • Send him a message from your phone, like “LUV U DAD” to get him started. He’ll love the idea of TXT-ing with his kids during the workday.
  • Add family and friends’ wireless numbers to his phone book, so he can easily TXT Message them.
Verizon also suggests using some content services such as arcade games and sports games as well as teaching him how to download the weather report, latest headlines or even language classes
