The recently launched Chrysalis Mobile business is to partner with Flytxt to provide the delivery platform for a variety of mobile music services
Chrysalis and Flytxt have already been working together over the last year and half developing mobile content delivery and CRM solutions optimised for media and retail channels. The partnership marks the launch of a highly specialised mobile delivery platform based on 'Flytxt Publisher' platform.
The market for mobile ringtones alone was estimated at $1.1 billion in Western Europe in 2003. However, this content market is now at an inflection point as demand shifts from existing monophonic and polyphonic ringtones towards 'real tunes' - actual elements of songs that require master rights access, a core area of expertise for Chrysalis.
Using the Flytxt platform, Chrysalis Mobile will act as a service provider to media and retail partners - sourcing and hosting music content across a number of genres for delivery to their consumer audiences on demand via mobile devices. Chrysalis Mobile is working with the record industry around individual artist promotion and with partners to integrate mobile music with their existing consumer marketing strategies.
Mobile content initially delivered through the partnership will include:
- Ring Tones - Monophonic and Polyphonic
- Real Tunes - Mobile edits of actual songs
- Images and Other Artist Content
In line with device penetration, the partnership will also enable the delivery of full song downloads to mobile devices.
Flytxt will manage and deliver music content across various channels including web, WAP, xHTML, IVR, SMS, and J2ME for subscribers to browse, sample, select and purchase.
The partnership will initially see the promotion of services into the Chrysalis Galaxy radio audience in April, to be followed by several further retail and radio partners.
Chrysalis Group Chief Executive, Richard Huntingford said that “Mobile is fast becoming one of the most important new channels for music content delivery and crucially, unlike the Internet, it is a “here and now†revenue stream. Through Chrysalis Mobile we are creating a highly innovative business that will both serve our existing Chrysalis Radio and Music divisions and also provide a valuable outsourced service to other players in the broader media and retail market places."
