A National Photo Contest in the USA called 'Share a Smile' run by Cingular and Kodak is to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation
The competition runs from 6th April through 29th May. Photos submitted using a camera phone with Multimedia Messaging (MMS), have a chance to win one $10,000 grand prize and the opportunity to have their photo displayed on the Kodak billboard in New York City’s Times Square. Weekly winners will receive a new Motorola V400 flip-phone with integrated camera.
For every picture received, a donation will be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® -- up to $25,000
total. The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy.
Additionally, all those who submit pictures will receive a 90-day free trial to KODAK Mobile Service, which offers camera phone users online to their digital photos and phone-captured video.
To enter Cingular customers use their camera phone to snap a photo of their favorite smiling face and send it to 76453 (SMILE) using the Multimedia Messaging feature of their phone.
Once received and screened for content, photos will be posted online allowing customers to view all submissions and the latest products, services, and special offers from both companies.
Cingular's phone range includes 14 that are multimedia capable and five have integrated camera phones. An MMS costs $0.25 per message for Cingular customers.
"We hope to encourage people to enjoy and maximize the use of their camera phones using KODAK Mobile Service", said Kodak’s David Rich.
With camera embedded in the device that almost everyone carries with them all the time, Kodak is in danger of being left behind in the digital camera stakes so we expect to see more of these partnerships.
